Government To Commit S$12.6m To Upgrade SMEs PDF Print E-mail

The government will commit $12.6 million over the next three years to grow Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). This will go directly to five Enterprise Development Centres which give SMEs consultancy and advisory services.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced this at the opening of the fifth and latest centre on Saturday. Help is on hand for Indian businesses that need assistance - from financial planning to venturing overseas in search of raw materials and opportunities.

Microsoft Vista SP1 Will Break These Programs PDF Print E-mail

Microsoft has published a list of programs that will not work or that will suffer from reduced functionality after the installation of Vista Service Pack 1.

The list of programs consists mostly of security applications, such as Trend Micro Internet Security 2008. However, programs such as The New York Times Reader application also feature on the list. Users are advised to install updates from the application vendor to fix the problem.

If your computer gets infected with a Trojan called the "MonaRonaDona virus," be careful with what you use to wipe it off your computer, says antimalware software provider Kaspersky Lab. MonaRonaDona is part of an elaborate scam to sell fake antivirus software, Kaspersky researchers say.

Yahoo Sued Again By Chinese Dissidents PDF Print E-mail

Yahoo and at least one subsidiary face their second major lawsuit by Chinese dissidents claiming the company aided Chinese authorities by handing over e-mails and other electronic communications that ended up landing one plaintiff in jail.

Microsoft Bids US$44.6 Billion For Yahoo PDF Print E-mail

Microsoft went public Friday with a $44.6 billion cash-and-stock bid to acquire Yahoo.
In its response, Yahoo called the Microsoft bid "unsolicited" but did not reject it.

Microsoft's offer, which was contained in the letter to Yahoo's board, amounts to $31 a share and represents a 62 percent premium over Yahoo's closing price on Thursday. Microsoft said it will offer shareholders the option of cash or stock.
