The so-called "Storm Worm" swept into U.S. email systems on Friday, cutting a wider swath of American email systems than within Europe.
According to Finnish security analyst F-Secure, the "Small.DAM' worm infected 20.3 of the American servers the company tracks, compared to only 15.7 percent of European systems. In both geographies, the firm ranked the worm as a "medium" threat. |

Many home PC users may have been infected 
Many home PC users may have been infected after a large-scale sustained Trojan horse attack that took place over the weekend, security vendors believe.
The Trojan, named "Storm Worm" by antivirus vendor F-Secure, first started to spread on Friday as extreme storms engulfed Europe. The e-mail claimed to include breaking news about the weather, in an attempt to get people to download an executable file. |

Once connected, users will be able to access all Internet-based services e.g. online gaming, web surfing, instant messaging, VoIP and email.
